Storybook Ending

Last night was the best night of my life. For four years I have been the Varsity basketball manager. Last night, since I am a senior, I was able to dress out and lead the team out for warmups on senior night. After that I was honored for being a senior. With 1:30 left in the fourth quarter, coach told me o go check in. When I took my warmup jersey off the crowd started cheering. When I actually went into the game, the crowd started to lose thier mind. My first shot attempt didn’t go well. I was under the goal with someone standing over me (I’m 5’4″) and airballed the attempt. Luckily, the ball went in front of the hoop and someone tapped it in giving me an assist instead of a miss. Then, with 25 seconds left, I got the ball at the 3 point line, pump faked, dribbled, stepped back and shot. When I first shot I thought I missed terribly. But, luck was on my side for it bounced off the backboard and into the net. The crowd for both teams started cheering and the whole gym was in pandimonium. Today, about 75% of the article on the game was about that shot. We may have lost the game, but it sure was a way to go out.
