Why in the world do people fear furries so much?

I find it quite bothersome that people act like furry is a horrible things. I've been called animal fucker so many times. Nobody even bothers to try to understand it. They just condemn it for being different. Not to be weird, but I think furry is pretty cool.
And a quick question, does anyone want to see more furry artwork here, or do you even care? Just wanted to ask.

Probably because (thanks to places like 4chan), the internet assumes that all furies are animal fuckers.
In the same sort of way that all Mac users are either gay or stupid.

    What is a Furry?

MY understanding is that people (the furries) find human-istic animals attractive? like either humans in animal costumes or a fox drawn like a human. it doesnt mean they litterally Fuck animals. its like a fetish. i may be 100% wrong, but thats my take on it. and as to the poster of this "Thread" good for you man, just dont go around in a costume and youre normal :D

"Why in the world do people fear furrys so much?"
    'Cause its different.

The same reason anyone gets weirded out by fetishes that they don't have: fear of that which is different.

Lol, thanks for all the replies, most of which made me chuckle. And I apologize for being whiny, that isn't a result of being furry, it's just because I'm inherently whiny. :p

It's because furries whine about people hating them and not understanding them almost as much as a 13 year old emo teen girl does.

Also, @SkinnyBill you mean to tell me that not all mac users are gay and/or stupid?? ;)

Yes. And all windows users are plebeian children. GNU + Linux yourself and RMS will be indeed proud of your newfound lifestyle of taking to free software. (free as in freedom, not free beer)

Well, I'm not gay or stupid.

Meh, they are kinda designed for idiots, but at the same time, they don't limit 'powerusers'.

May I just interject for a moment....
    Install Gentoo
    - SkinnyBill November 2, 2012, 5:17 am
    Gentoo uses nonfree software

they're so much more expensive for the same thing though...

But its not the same D:

To think about it, it's kinda the same with trainers. You COULD go out and buy cheap trainers, but you choose to spend up to, or more than 10x as much on effectively the same thing with "Nike" written on it. Or Addidas, or Vans, or whatever brand.

There's something in Macs which just isn't quite there with windows...

Windows is not just a cheap version of Apple though, in fact Windows has much longer support for their products(XP is STILL supported with Extended Support) and huge upgrade discounts are given for current users. Apple does not even HAVE public support lifecycles for their products!

Although in terms of the actual OS, they're pretty similar in my experience. It's like paying 10x more for the cheap trainer. The only thing Apple has over Windows is that you can take an Apple product to Starbucks and not feel left out.

EDIT: Just looked at Apple's Why Mac section...One of the selling points of a Mac is that it can run Microsoft programs... *facepalm* Actually, upon scrolling down that's TWO of their selling points... out of 9. LOL. 22% of Apple's reasons to own a Mac is that it can run Microsoft stuff. LOL.

    Heh, yeah -_-
But still, there's just something more than raw specs. It runs much smoother than Windows does, even on the same computer. It feels nicer to use. I do all my schoolwork and casual stuff on this laptop, and use my desktop for playing games on. And that desktop only cost about £350 to build.

I do laugh at some of the things people say to sell Macs though. I actually cringe, tut or facepalm when I hear someone say "Macs don't get viruses". In all honestly, with NO antivirus on this laptop, I've never picked up a virus. And i'm not the kind of person who doesn't occasionally visit dodgy websites.

Also, just had a thought. In one of those D3 interviews, something that Steve Jobs said sums up Apple very very well.

Edit: I paraphrased quite a lot, but you get the idea. I found the video. he says it at the end, but its worth watching all 5 mins of it
"We make products that WE would want to use. And if people like them, then people buy them. If they don't, they won't.
And all I can say right now, is people seem to be liking iPads".

@Rmax simple answer: people that have an affinity for anthropomorphic animals. Whether that be dressing as one, drawing them, appreciating the art, etc.

Often misunderstood and linked with animal roll play; i.e. CSI episode Fur and Loathing (RE: Yiffing).

Ah thank you @Sweetness :) I have never heard of it but must admit the thought of snuggling up to a giant teddy bear would be awesome lol (not sexy times however...)
