Ehh.. these posts are kind of dumb. We use the first two because we are used to it. Its not that hard to understand if you grow up hearing them. I will say that yours may be simpler and easier but our scientists use that so everyone understands anyway. Who cares about the mass population of the U.S. As for dates it just depends on the situation which is used here. I will say I will mostly use the m/d/y format because to me the month is more important most of the time. But lets be honest why does it matter when dates are mostly spoken and not written.

Being English I totally understand ft & inches, miles, lb & oz and Fahrenheit though we were only ever taught the metric system. When I go fishing everything I catch is weighed in lbs. When I drive my speed and distance is reported in miles.
Please take this post in the humour which was intended.

Well since this seems to be the srs bsns reply chain...

I understand the metric system being easy to use for calculations, but maybe it's just growing up hearing lbs and ounces and feet and inches but those measurements are just so much easier to visualize for me when someone says like "oh I weigh 120lbs" is easier for me then "oh I weigh 53.4 kg's."

And also, Celsius was not always so logical. In fact, Mr. Anders Celsius originally had water freezing at 100 degrees and boiling at 0 degrees - reversed. It was not until after he died that Celsius was changed to the modern form we have today.
