the Golden Orb Weaver with the finch in its web is not "eating" it, it is simply removing it from its web. We get it here all the time in northern QLD.
The greater majority of spiders are harmless to humans, with very few being venomous enough to cause death.
OH and spiders arent "poisonous", that indicates that the poison comes from digesting them (eating). an injection such as a snake, spider or scorpion is a venom- hence venemous.
In response to Sciteachr, im sorry mate but the big T's do bite. Ive been bitten myself a few times. In saying that, australian species of Tarantulas are alot more aggresive compared to the more docile american common pet Tarantulas. And again it comes down to individual specimens, some can be docile, others can be very aggresive.
There are more recorded deaths globally from Bee stings than from Spider bites, yet the fear of spiders is more common than the fear of death.
These photos are wonderful displays of rare events, these are not common everyday occurences.
If anyone has any questions regarding Arachnids id be happy to shoot you my email and discuss further. My study is mainly within australian species but i do have some extended knowledge of international species to an extent.
Hey Dr. I'm with ya! this is garbage...part of the media trying to scare the pants off of human beings and profit from fear. Man's only predator is Man. I've had a tarantula for almost 10 years and she is a complete sweetheart. I'm a 9th grade science teacher and I let my students and parents hold her. She is the class pet and the kids love her. Spiders of that size do not bite humans. If freaked in any way at worst you'll get a flurry of abdominal hairs in your face...which have a slight irritant on them. But they tend to get the fact that you are not food.
btw the same media crap is spread about sharks every year and If you look at the stats you'll find that sharks maybe kill one or two people a year world wide but that humans kill thousands of sharks. who should be afraid of whom???
It's "species", not "specie". "Species" with an "s" is used for both plural and singular. And it's "Homo sapiens", with an "s". Also "arachnophobia" doesn't have a "g" in it. AND, "Thusly" is NOT a word.
Relax man, it's just for fun. You're a science teacher, you should appreciate how cool this is. Not everything's about the media spreading false propaganda, you know. Some people just want to see spiders eat stuff (that's bigger than them).
There's nothing wrong with spiders. I am an arachnaphobe, but spiders do many good things for us. They kill other bugs. They may be creapy, but there are much worse things in life than being near a spider.
I am here in Afghanistan, this is what we found in one of the tents! Camel Spider is the nickname, even though they are not really considered spiders but solifugids
Uhh..they're just pictures, why are you talking about continuity and shit? Nothing is being implied or intended exept that these spiders can kill. Jesus man lol.

As an arachnaphobe each one of those pictures made me shiver; i get freaked out by the smallest of spiders...it's even worse now that i've heard there are poisonous spiders in Britain T_T
I'm a hiker and resident of Australia. Generally you are nice and safe, though there are occasional cases of spider bites. If you intend to put yourself in a situation where you may encounter any type of poisonous creature, make sure you, or one of your party members have recieved training in bush first aid.
I was just in Reims, France last week, and went on a Champagne tour in the cellars where Dom Perignon is made; they have twenty four kilometers of underground caverns, and the spiders there are huge and mean looking! Being 6'4", I couldn't stand in some places or I would be nose to nose with these guys hanging above our heads!
couldnt remember password so made a new account, Im never ever going to kill another spider with my shoe........ Im going to get grenades be back Bye,;)
A specie not shown among these arachnophiles is homo sapien. It fails, thusly, to develop universal arachnophogbia in humans, as was probably intended.
It looks like the birds change identities with the dead one being a chicken in a pen. I'm not sure of the continuity of the lizard wars either if a continuum was implied or intended.
Dear Sciteacher,
No matter how much you love your tarantula, it is still a spider. I hate to break it to you, but love for a spider is seditious and down right creepy. Not only are you betraying your innate humanity, but you are putting small children in danger of being eaten.
Love,
A concerned citizen
