Please tell me you're kidding... france is one of the most beautiful countries in the world

It's what i was thinking. But like a wise individual on FJ once said "People tend to see a comment with a thumbs up/down and thumb up/down it without even looking at it"

    Have you ever been there?
First of all. I hate french language... It sounds horrible.
Second. Most of the french are too freakin arrogant to learn any other language apart from french.
    And they eat snails...
    - Curuba June 10, 2011, 11:53 pm
Yes I live in France at the moment.
    Well that's your opinion.
That is not true as the French have to learn English and one other language at school. How much French do you know?

    Snails are nice :-)

I have been in france a couple of times and nearly no one spoke english. Once I was stuck at the airport in paris and no one was able to understand me.
And we had 2 exchange students here and they both didnt know any other language.
So my dislike of france is based on bad experiences.
    - Curuba June 11, 2011, 5:26 am
So you're pissed off because the country has a language that isn't English? You think everyone should just conform to your way of speaking, to make the world an easier place for English speakers?
Just learn French. Who knows, you might appreciate one of the most amazing countries in the world.

Also, have you ever had escargot?
    - Jackylegs June 11, 2011, 4:20 pm
    I am German.
I know German and English and a little bit of french.
I don't like that they were apparently not willing to learn any other language and expected everyone else to learn french.
    - Curuba June 12, 2011, 12:32 am
That's ridiculous. Every country knows their own language, but you're saying the French should have to learn others? Who knows, there's probably someone like you in France who thinks you should learn German.
    - Jackylegs June 12, 2011, 3:34 am
Yes. If people work at places where lots of nationalities come together (like an airport) or if they come to a different country for a longer time they should learn at least english which is the world language. And most french people I met didn't know any other language apart from french. And thats why I dont like france even one bit and thats why I will never go there again.
I gues you mean that someone wants me to learn french. Well I did. I didn't like the language so i stopped practicing it. And I don't say they should know german. But a little bit of english isn't too much to ask or is it?!
You know we live in aglobalised world. And people who refuse to be a part of this world will not succeed in their lives.
Sadly the german foreign minister doesn't speak english as well. That is extremly bad too. But he is pretty much an exception.

I see your point concerning airports, but it's still their own decision. But you also say that non-English speakers are refusing to be a part of this world?? They're a part of the 30% of the population that doesn't speak English. And, also contrary to what you said, millions of them are successful in life.
    - Jackylegs June 12, 2011, 2:14 pm
Yeah maybe that wasn't really the right thing to say but my vocabulary isn't perfect.
I don't really know how to say what I want to say...
But this got a little bit out of hand. If you really want to go on discussing this please tell me. I will discus with you. But right now I am just hungover and I don't really know how to respond... :)

I understand how frustrating the French (non English speakers) can be, especially if you don't try to speak the native tongue first! Every country I go to I learn the VERY basics, I may not be fluent (unlike you(Your English is obviously very good)) but I try (not saying you didn't) and trying seems to please people. Sorry if I am ranting but most people I have met while traveling have been very nice, if I try to speak the language of the country I am in.

EDIT Sorry I have just read that back and it may be confusing for you
