Not Another Football vs Football Argument...

First, some Football highlights.

Now some American Football highlights.

Your call.
I'd rather watch and play American Football.
Reasons why:
-More competitive (IMO)
-More creative
-Overall more entertaining
Feel free to convince me otherwise. Keep it classy.

I think Football (soccer for American people) is way better than hand egg. Here are my reasons:
    - For watching I like Soccer more than football. It's mainly because we have nearly no football in Germany but it is also because I think Football is boring. It's no fast game. It has impressive strategys and stuff like that but the permanent breacks destroy everything for me... I think it does not arrouse suspense. A soccer Game is different. In good games the teams are permanently looking for weak points of each other and there can be Chances from any little mistake. And you never really know what happens next.

    - When I play these sports myself I prefere soccer because it is way more fun. You can play a little with your friends or other people and have a really good game. But for football you need so many things. And there are too many rules.

    - In addition to that: all the football players I know are really arrogant and have no other topic than Football. You can't talk to them about other stuff.

fyi I just used soccer and football because it saves time. Normally I would say football and american football.

Ok, here it goes. I am a long time fan and follower of American Football (Carolina Panthers). I love watching the sport and playing, albeit on a non-competitive level. However, I love football (I will call it soccer for clarity). I have played soccer for most of my life. I have played at many levels and many positions, but I have found my home playing goal keeper. Overall, I really hate when this argument comes up because it is like comparing apples to oranges, but they are both fruits. American football is all about brute power and speed. The coaches come up with the plays and then tell the players what to do. American Football is an anaerobic sport (if you don't know what that means, look it up). Translating American Football skills to track, they would mostly be sprinters. American Football is about doing your specific job. Soccer is about finesse and patience. Soccer is an aerobic sport and would translate into distance running (except for the goal keeper :D). In futbol, the players devise the "plays" and have to work as a group and do one another's jobs (except the keeper, again).

Good, now keep this fight clean and gloves above the belt.

I love being goalkeeper i call myself 'Spiderman' lol. I love denying people goals and saying "get that shit outta here", but i prefer forward just by a bit

I have accumulated quite a few nick names, such as "eclipse," "train," "green giant," "bulldozer," and more of the like. I, umm, hurt quite a few people while playing keeper (made three go to the hospital in one game), and I have been thrown out of a few games. My favorite thing to yell was to "get that out of my house!"

Yeah i don't play on a team, just once in awhile by my house i use the monkey bars as the goal or sometimes my brother tries to practice his free-kicks on me and gets denied

I have played baseball as a team sport, loved Futbol as a kid, and now I am more akin to American Football. mainly because I'm a 6'7" 280-300 lb. tower. Never had the opportunity to play more organized because of a heart condition called a murmur (one valve doesn't close all the way, and a sharp slam to the chest could get it stuck open permanently, which = death.) Luckily, it has closed more, so it's a possibility.

Team sports in senior year of HS, we were playing flag football. Well, one of the douchbag jocks decided tackle was more fun, and would 'accidentally' run into other people going full speed. Well, I have the ball at one point, so he 'accidentally' ran into me, and pulled my flag on the way down. I was tired of his shit, so when he picked up the fumble, I whole heartedly... um accidentally, ran THROUGH him, flooring him about 10 feet from where he was standing originally. The coach 'didn't notice' that I had tackled him and he stopped his shenanegans.

I like them both, but I would have to say I enjoy Football (American) more. I just personally find it more entertaining to watch, there seems to be more action in general.
But if I had to choose one deciding factor in the argument it would have to be the fact that some soccer players have ruined ANY tough guy reputation that they had by doing stupid crap like this.

im dissapointed by the lack of Chiefts highlights, granted theyre not very good. They have had some exceptional plays. And I would have to say I like Football, the American version, way better. But im American soooo maybe im partial.

I like the both of them, i think soccer is better but people that prefer the NFL can't keep these kinds of posts "classy". All they say is well "football players can kick soccer players ass and they don't stay down for a little hit blah blah fucking blah".

I know. I'd like a reasonable debate just to hear other people's opinions, because soccer is expanding in the USA, and while the other sports are finished for the time being, soccer could fill the void. I'd much rather it than baseball.

my family loves baseball lol. i can see why, when you get into the specifics the game is actually very verse. but i can see why people wouldnt like it
    - bufus101 June 1, 2011, 1:29 pm
I like playing it not watching it
    - MalverdeAl100 June 1, 2011, 1:31 pm
I honestly could give two and a half cares less who could kick who's ass in any scenario. I am much more akin to the NFL for other reasons. Such reasons are: I like the play style. Soccer is fun and tactical, fun to play. But in terms of watching, Amer. football to me is more like watching two forces of war collide, then push for the goal. I love strategy, and have respect for the coach for his tactics. Soccer is more graceful and precise, great to play, but a tad lacking to watch (for me at least).

To defend my... air-headed American Football kin, Soccer players to seem to have a lower tolerance for pain than your average Amer. Football player. Not bashing, just making an observation. Soccer players are still tough as nails, just think 'Football' players are tough as steel beams.

you mean football and futbol =P

I prefer Football(Should name it "Gridiron" to reduce confusion) over "Futbol". Football is about cracking peoples heads and Futbol is about being a little field fairy (Yes, biased I know). The only thing I can respect about Futbol players is that they are so god damn passionate about the sport. However I hate how all the teams are monopolies, if your team is good in Futbol, it stays good. I really wished that you could just pick up a football and just start playing like you could with a soccer ball (Two hand touch not as fun and nobody wants to play tackle unless your an actual football player and gym teachers don't allow it.
