    - GinjaNinja December 3, 2010, 4:03 pm
Thanks smart ass, now any real answers?
    - DarkicoN13 December 3, 2010, 4:50 pm
It is worth playing, but i will warn you, if you try to play something else, you can't.... blizzard is still the best MMO maker, and playing others just make you feel incomplete
    - Dragkyre December 3, 2010, 7:07 pm
Drag is right. I quit for a year and one of my friends likes to play free mmos. So Id join him and play for 20 levels and be like "This was ripped from wow. They could have done this for like WoW" ect. My friend ended up yelling at me and was like "JUST GO PLAY WOW AGAIN YA FAG" So I did.
    - Porsche91109 December 3, 2010, 7:12 pm
haha yeah, I quit for a short period not too long ago, i tried Aion, that was shit and the leveling was just.... if you arent korean you arent leveling.... tried a few MMO's like pirate space or something, but most space simulation games ive played cannot match the game Freelancer, that was pure awesome! so yeah, WoW is the only MMO i can stand playing, oh and i enjoy runescape maybe one month a year, only MMO that has a unique style to it, which makes for a good break from WoW when i need one
    - Dragkyre December 3, 2010, 7:19 pm
    well it depends.

Im not horribly addicted. I only have 1 top level character.

But anyway, its just what you like. People who like XBOX games have and play on their xbox. People who like PS3 games will play their PS3 games.
People who like 1st person shooters will play first person shooters.
People who like adventure games play adventure games.

People who like World of Warcraft play World of Warcraft.

I think probably the biggest reason why so many people get addicted to it is because, it's one of the only games I can currently think of that still takes WEEKS to do your main objective, and THEN, theres all the other stuff. And just a couple of weeks after you get bored, BAM! New area, new dungeon, new expansion or whatever.

It takes about 6 days and 12 hours to get to top level (currently, before cataclysm), and thats PLAYING TIME. So in real time, it takes about a month, and once you have done that, you then have all the dungeons and raids to do, get better gear so you can do the dungeons and raids easier, get all of the current 1056 achievements, make money, do endless PVP (really, PVP is endless) and more.
And even if its not the gameplay itself that you like, it has the most amazing story if you like that sort of fiction. Especially if you played the previous single player Warcraft games.

THAT'S the appeal of World of Warcraft.
    - SkinnyBill December 4, 2010, 1:20 am
Best part of this story, "So I did." ^^ You can't ever quit WoW, you can take a extended leave, but not quit...
    - Dawn December 4, 2010, 3:15 am
It was mainly because LK was so terrible. Im not addicted, hell I had one 70, have one 80, and will probably have one 85. But its mainly the friends that I play with that keep me going.
    - Porsche91109 December 4, 2010, 8:53 pm
The story is literally ripped off of Norse Mythology, with its own twists, names and adds of course.

But Norse Mythology kicks ass and is bad-ass, so its awesome.
    - Porsche91109 December 4, 2010, 8:54 pm
This is so true. I quit for a year but once you could make dwarf shamans I was like I gotta get on this shit again. I'm currently a level 76 dwarf shaman and missed my goal of hitting 80 before cata. RIP King Magni Bronzebeard the greatest dwarf king to ever live.

I've never heard of 31,5 GB... I would assume that it means 31.5... but then... whats up with the actual files... 4.492 files? that's almost 4 and a half! 4 and a half files taking up THAT much space... that's pretty bad right there.

well its actually thousands of files. Blizzard keeps files locked in "MPQ" files. These are another type of file archive, like RAR or ZIP. Its a single file that holds thousands. So for example, SOUND.MPQ holds most of the in-game music, speech, emote sounds, attack sounds, death sounds, sound effects and so on. But its a single file that contains 1.38GB of sound files. And that's in MP3 format!
    - SkinnyBill December 4, 2010, 1:24 am
That doesn't explain the 31,5 GB of memory.
    - Disco December 4, 2010, 3:03 am
well, thats just the sound. there is also models, textures and video files. also, bear in mind, WoW uses torrenting technology to update, giving a faster download speed for everyone. In 'fairness', the blizzard downloader keeps the old updates so you can still share the files for those who are downloading what you already have downloaded. You can delete these update files (not the applied updates, just the packed files). Just dont delete the current updates.
    - SkinnyBill December 4, 2010, 3:41 am
    You're missing the point, lol.
It should be 31.5 not 31,5.

Notice the PERIOD compared to the COMMA.
    - Disco December 4, 2010, 4:11 am
Some countries have the two symbols swapped, i.e. comma for decimal place and full-stop for thousands-separater.
    4,492 files, 31.5 GB

Well, if you are in the EU and you consider coming back, I offer a recruit a friend invite so you can get to level 60 in one day xD

How do you get to 60 in one day with recruit a friend? QQ
    - Dawn December 4, 2010, 3:36 am
well it might be longer than one day, but...

in RAF, while working together BOTH of you get TRIPLE EXPERIENCE. Also, every other level, you can grant eachother a bonus level. Basically, get 2 levels up and get one free (go level 1 to level 2, then level up to lv 3, then you can get granted STRAIGHT to level 4).

I know people say that its really addicting and everything, I even know people who have gone mad with it but I bought it and tried it for a week and (don't downrate me for this :D) but I didn't like it! I totally got bored I can't see what it's massive appeal is?

It gets better as you level up, so typically after level 20 (Which took us about a week the first time) you get hooked in or quit.

haha WOW... omg am i the only one to have played it only 2 hours a day still had a life and got to lvl38(so close to getting a paladin mount for blood elf but CBA)

when you said "so close to getting a paladin mount for blood elf but CBA" you cancelled out your previous statement "(I) had a life"
    - c8r15 December 7, 2010, 4:45 am
You got level 38.. congrats! You are not considered a WoW player unless you capped your level and raided with more than 10 people. Everything prior to that is like paying for a free trial, since you didn't see 90% of the game content.
    - Albane December 7, 2010, 7:34 am
I don't see what's so "only" about two hours a day...
    - Jackylegs December 7, 2010, 6:48 pm
how could i? i only played for like an hour/ 2 hours a day then i went out with freinds so technically i did have a life and still do.
    - Soraking007 December 14, 2010, 10:06 am
not really i was only a casual gamer none of that goin on raids to find epic armour and shit i played for the lols and to meet paedofiles to shoot em down.
    - Soraking007 December 14, 2010, 10:07 am
2 hours being split up into periods so basically like half an hour, 1 hour then half an hour if there nutin on tv.
