actually the psych majors have a lot of applications surprisingly, because any advertisement you've ever seen a psychologist had something to do with it.

There are some branches of psychology that may not be in as bad of a situation, but most branches of psychology are hurting right now and all are above 5.0% unemployment.

On the top 10 list for 2011 for worst majors for employment, psychology has 4 different branches on there taking the #1(clinical psychology @ 19.5% unemployment), #5(Educational Psychology @ 10.9% unemployment), and #8(Industrial and Organizational Psychology @ 10.4% unemployment) and #9(Miscellaneous Psychology @ 10.3% unemployment) spots.

These branches of psychology generally do not make lots of money, either, usually being below $45,000 median earnings and some starting just above $20,000 which is hard to live on with college debt. Not to mention the popularity of psychology is off the charts which makes for lots of competition and high unemployment.

That's half the problem these days. Kids going to college and not learning anything. The system itself needs an overhaul, so that they can run like schools instead of businesses.

I totally agree. In one of my college classes my teacher assigned online quizzes that you printed out and did on your own time, and you could literally just click "submit", see the right answers, go back and fill it out, and print it out for a 100%. I don't think anyone learned 1 thing that whole class. Even the final you could take as many times as you wanted.

Of course, that was World Geography, something I plan on never using in my major computer science ever again, so I didn't really care and was thankful for the easy class, but it sucked being forced to pay hundreds for that wonderful and enriching experience.

I recall one occasion back when I went to culinary school. I typed the info from some slides on a class lecture, and found it word for word on Wikipedia. This was a 8000$ program. I think for that much money, it's not a lot to ask for some effort on the teacher's part.
