Anti-Cheat Bot, Why You So Kind to Me?

So there was a long period of time where the anti-cheat bot wasn't working. Then it was turned on one day...

So many false downrates against my account that fixing them puts me at the top of the Rising Sharenators list. Fairly hilarious, to me at least : ).

Kind of makes getting down-rated into oblivion worth it! :P

Remember when you had to get around 200-500+ points or more to make the Rising Sharenators list? Pepperidge farm remembers.

Lame, I didn't get or lose any points from it :'( Does no one abusively downrate/uprate me??? :(

I guess you're just good at not-pissing-off-people who have multiple accounts. :3

went up 85 lol i was a little shocked. never would have thought it was that much.

That would explain the -16 for me... huh... I am confused, I only have one account how could I possibly have cheated? Can someone explain this to me? I think the anti cheat bot went all Spanish Inquisition and thought I was a cheater.

I suspect you held some similar opinions to those who were less than legitimate with their point allocation, and were the unwitting byproduct of excess points from one user with multiple accounts.

**Unwarranted speculation, obviously not faulting you in any way : D.

    so I'm basically collateral damage?
    - triclebickle February 3, 2013, 3:33 am
Likely- although you have to remember that those points would have been ones not gained legitimately in the first place. Whether or not you were aware!
    - Logos385 February 3, 2013, 12:41 pm
And that brings up the question of what made these point illegitimate? Obviously I would assume it was because of the same person and for the same reason (opposite side of the road though) you gained as many as you did, but what I don't get is why the anti cheat bot illegitimized otherwise legitimate points. You would think such a human error would be unlikely for a machine to commit.
    - triclebickle February 3, 2013, 3:03 pm
That's just it: I don't think it illegitimized otherwise legitimate points. I think it removed illegitimate points that just happened to be given to you. It sucks that you are "penalized" for someone else falsely giving you points, but those shouldn't have been given in the first place.

Once again, all speculation! I have no authority on this site whatsoever, just guesswork : ).

    Good guesswork.

Hmm, I have multiple accounts. Not intentionally mind you, but Sharenator saw fit to lock me out of them I think. One day my password just stopped working, so I had to make a new account. That happened twice. So here I am today.

As I understand it, having multiple accounts is actually fine. However, utilizing those two accounts to artificially boost or detract from a post or comment's rating isn't fine. So you're good : ).
    - Logos385 February 4, 2013, 1:02 am
Lol. I can't use the others, for legitimate uses or otherwise. I can't remember the name of one of them either. :p
    - FurryLegend February 5, 2013, 9:32 pm
You can have as many accounts as you wish. I can't give more information how anti-cheat system works (don't want to educate cheaters), but you will not be penalized for having multiple accounts as long as you use them fairly. We don't lock accounts either, perhaps you lost a password?
    - Paul February 7, 2013, 8:01 am
I probably did, but I don't see how. It has (had?) the same password as my current one.
    - FurryLegend February 9, 2013, 2:13 pm
Never mind I guess. I tried ONE other password and it worked. That's weird. Maybe I just lack intelligence. :p
I never plan on using this account ever again. Feel free to delete it. (If you even do that kind of thing.)

Interesting how one particular person gained points, indicating that overall they were more abusively downrated than illegitimately uprated as some believed.

Evidently you are more thorough than I.
I feel rather the fool now.

Edit: First time posting with the new (well not really anymore) system. Kudos to Darius/Paul/Linas.

Haha, no reason to feel foolish : ). And I want to just second how much easier this site is to use than it was years ago. Excellent improvements.

Why do I not find this surprising?
